Service Description

This is a unique sequence researched and developed by Sally Kay for clients with unilateral secondary lymphoedema of the arm. RLD is an award winning reflexology technique which focuses on stimulating the lymphatic reflexes on the feet. This treatment is adapted to mirror Manual Lymph Drainage massage via the reflexes of the feet. The aim is to cause an effect on the lymphatic system in the body. The principle of reflexology is that the organs, systems and structures of the body are reflected in the feet and a reflexology treatment involves applying gentle pressure to specific points on the feet, ‘reflexes’, to stimulate the body’s own healing potential. Lymph drainage massage drains excess fluids from the tissues returning them to the circulatory system. The focus is primarily on reducing secondary lymphoedema, a swelling in the arm following treatment for breast cancer. Clinical experience and further evidence from a growing body of case studies suggests RLD may be useful for clients with non-cancer related, auto-immune disorders, e.g., Rheumatoid arthritis, Fibromyalgia, allergies, migraine and many other inflammatory conditions. Check out this you tube link to find out more. https://youtu.be/oHN4Efc-3ao The lymphatic system is a type of circulatory system that involves a network of channels or lymphatic vessels and glands that help fight infection and remove or drain excess fluid from the body tissues. The Lymphatic System is a secondary drainage system within the circulatory system. If system function is impaired due to trauma it cannot clear toxins from the interstitial fluid within the body systems. It is connected directly to the cardiovascular, digestive, and immune systems. It is a vital part of the immune system as it clears away toxins from the body. This process is necessary in order for us to feel well and stay healthy. Stimulation of the nerves supplying the feet can help improve blood and lymph circulation and restore energy flow to these systems within the body. Worling with my clients, I have often found that the lympatic system shows up and appears sluggish. The lymphatic reflexes appear tender and can indicate an underlying cold, infection or feeling of low energy. By giving a thorough RLD - Reflexology Lympatic Drainage treatment, you're allowing the body heal itself, improve lympatic drainage and thus overall wellness. It can be very beneficial with a large number of conditions.
